Sometimes consumers ask for shoddy installations because they are cheap or
think they know more than they do.  Other times consumers are victims of
unscrupulous installers and would just as soon pay a fair price for quality
work.



We have taken some pretty poor installations and turned them around.  I
tell rework customers that the repair will be more expensive than the
original install because there is time expended to undo the harm before the
good work can start.



If we sense the customer is not willing to trust us, we make a hasty
retreat.  A diplomatic exit is sometimes the best course.  We have said
things like, “Our skill set is not a good match with your needs,” or “We
are all booked up for the foreseeable future.”



We have made a lot of money and derived a lot of satisfaction doing
rework-- under the right conditions.  I suggest you have an open mind but
follow your gut feelings.

I’m sure we’re not alone in this so I thought I’d find out what you all do
in these situations:  We were contacted by a person that wants us to repair
their system.  I ask the standard questions you’d expect and also for
pictures of their system.  Here’s the pic (below).  My question is what
would you say to this person?
