Here's a pic of an AGM battery bank that went into thermal run away.  
Core temp was at over 200 F.  If you over charge a sealed battery for 
long enough, with high enough charge current and don't have adequate 
cooling......

You definitely want a relay to disconnect the GT inverters, in case 
frequency shifting isn't working.  With a large enough array and small 
battery bank, you can over shoot battery voltage really quickly and 
start damaging the batteries.  I've seen just milli-amps push an AGM 
battery to 64 v, once it reaches full charge.
