Steve,
After sending my response I read yours, which is very clear. Only one
thing, though: you say that stator lead #3 is always grounded to the
chassis. I think that doing that forces the neutral-to-ground bond that I
just ranted against.
OK, y'all. My Kohler distributor recommended, for unbonded 120V
operation (this is 8.5/11 RMY, but others are similar):
2&4 leads are hot; 1&3 are neutral. V4 wire goes from #4 lead to V8
terminal; V1 wire goes from #2 lead to V7 terminal (only V7 is used). V0
goes to AC neutral at a split bolt, to break bond.
