Trace name [RE-wrenches]

There have been a lot of jokes going around about the name, both inside and
outside the company. I was pleased to get a bit of background on it from a
Heart employee last month.

Apparently the company (Xantrex) was started on the Sunshine Coast in
British Columbia by an American in Canada avoiding the Vietnam War. The
"Xan" in the name comes from "Xanadu", the Shangrila-like place in
Coleridge's poem "Khubla Khan". "trex" was to be something like
"electronics", and sounds sort of techie. So the whole name was supposed to
mean "electronics from heaven".  Good story. Wonder if it's true... ;-)

Too bad it sounds like a tranquilizer.
