[RE-wrenches] Honda EU3000 voltage all over the place

I should clarify these were previously working fine, one unit has approx 500 hrs, other 2,000 hrs. I've never had any issues with the EU3000's on inverter charging and have probably 100 of them out there. Good to know they can be problematic.

Hi Kevin;
I have had issues with 2 different Honda 3000i units, up in your neck of the woods north of Smithers incidentally. Two different inverter/chargers simply would not accept the input, and changing charger settings as suggested by tech support didn't help. Considered the honda shop repair option, and then heard from someone else that they would just swap the 3000i internal inverter board for a hefty fee -- in addition to me bringing the generators out by helicopter -- so I just punted and am charging with 2000is that work fine with the same inverter/chargers. Go figure. I avoid these evil red cubes like the plague now....and still highly recommend all the other Hondas.

Hi Wrenches,

Wondering if anyone else has seen this and what the fix is? I have two EU3000 generators from different customers both with identical issues. Voltage is from 85-140 VAC with a constant load, eco throttle disabled. These units are normally 125.0 even and very little deviation even with loads spiking. The customer had the unit into the local Honda shop, but they didn't have electronics experience, they said it runs a skillsaw fine so it's good. Ha ha.

I'm suspecting there is an issue with the internal inverter in the EU. Have already eliminated loose wires or connections.

Thanks,
