This is a good discussion.  Early on I was taught that it was 
important to wait for bubbles to gas out due to both the effect of 
bubbles on the float and microscopic bubbles changing the weight of 
liquid.  The two effects seem to go in opposite directions, so maybe 
there is no problem.  If there is not, it would expedite matters.
