Matt,
Like Larry, I too challenge your question about "why you have the bulk point
set so high". You may not have read a recent Surrette Tech Bulletin #614
(not the much older #605), titled "Charging and Discharging Batteries;
Renewable Energy Applications". It calls for higher charge voltages: 29.4 is
a midpoint in Surrette's recommendations, and 30.0 the upper point. This
will vary according primarily to charging C/ rate.

Since the MX thinks that the batteries are virtually full all the time, 
"force bulk" is simply overriding the controller programming to effect a 
charge, I would take OutBack up on the offer and call it good. I'm 
curious as to why you have the bulk point set so high?
