homework [RE-wrenches]

Steve,

For me anything goes...so long as the customer if made fully aware of the
choice he is making. (I do have you own limits but haven't really run into
them yet.)

Part of making the customer aware is providing an efficacious cost-benefit
analysis for each option. I use a pre-tax ROI analysis for my grid-tied
residential customers that conforms very closely to the OnGrid bidding tool.

wow you guys are making me dizzy

When I run it on PV watts the 296 degree bearing at 22.6 tilt shows a
23% loss over optimum.

The 206 bearing with 15d tilt shows a 4% loss.

It seems like that is a big difference over 25 years. I may not have
the picture straight.

Which brings up a question. Is there a point where you don't recommend
an installation because of losses? For me, if you are losing 20% that
is a considerable amount and I would not recommend it. Is that too
conservative? Do people frequently put in systems where there will be
losses of 20% or greater, whether due to shading, orientation, tilt or
all 3?

Steve
