To try and clarify (coming in late on this thread):

*Grid-Tied Game*

- Provide ROI analysis for each tilting scenario (include additional cost
for tilting as applicable).
- Grid-Tied most likely means TOU metering (in California at least).
- Us PVWatts database to determine time weighted yield information (hourly
data) to be plugged into ROI analysis.
- PVWatts input is azimuth and tilt of module.
- If module is flat to sloped roof, module azimuth and tilt are same as roof
azimuth and tilt.
- If tilting up modules on roof, module azimuth and tilt depend on how
modules are tilted.
- If tilting up along horizontal module edge in line with ridge of roof
(towards the same azimuth as roof) then module azimuth is roof azimuth and
module tilt is roof tilt plus additional tilt. Plug that into PVWatts.
- If tilting up along vertical module edge in attempt to face azimuth other
than roof azimuth, module azimuth and tilt ARE NOT roof azimuth and tilt and
must be calculated using 3D vector analysis. Calculate actual module azimuth
and tilt using 3D vector equations or 3D modeling. Plug that into PVWatts.
	 
Finally, lie awake at night wondering if it's all worth the trouble, trying
to beat the utilities at their own game.

Then, lie awake at night wondering if it's worth going into business for
yourself so you can design and build PV systems properly.
