Why don't you skip the transfer switch and just segregate the loads into 
Critical/Non-Critical.  Feed the Non-Critical loads from a Load Center 
powered by the Gen-set.  Out of that load center, feed the Outback which 
feeds a Critical Loads load center.  No sweat, no extra transfer switch.
