In my case, most of the off grid homes I design are in Mexico and they 
are rental property. The owners are hundreds off miles away and have 
little understanding of the RE system. It is a major job keeping the 
peoples (the renters) fingers out of the system as it is. So, for our 
application, full automation is the only way we do it.

Some customers use have a home there as a weekend getaway. These 
customers play more of a roll in the operation and maintenance but still 
want the system to operate with little interaction.

Otherwise, I agree with you.
