Roy,

What do you use for an acid-proof liner? I've tried a number of
things but I've never been able to source anything at a reasonable
price that I was happy with. Anything that I'm sure will work has to
be shipped in at considerable cost (like everything else we buy, these
days).

Has anyone ever been cited for using wood (a highly flammable material,
last time I checked) for battery enclosure construction?

Nik,

Although Article 480 and 690 don't mention anything about it, we always
use lockable enclosures.
My main concern is kids....of all ages! Hasps are cheap....
Our enclosures have an acid-proof liner, are tightly sealed and have
voltage controlled active venting systems.
We have about 40 in use at this time and have had no problem with the
inspectors (so far!)

Although no trees were killed in the sending of this message, a large
number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

I was under the impression that the NEC required a sealed, lockable
enclosure for batteries but when questioned on it I couldn't find a passage
in the code. Did I make that up? Does anyone else use lockable enclosures?

Thanks in advance,
-Nik
