Outback 3048 with turbo [RE-wrenches]

3hp motor or 3hp pump? Could be a big difference. My portable air
compressor is rated at 3hp "Peak" (yeah right) and any real inverter will
start it every time. Of course it's not really a 3hp motor, it plugs into a
120v 15 amp circuit. For what it's worth this same compressor makes our
Yamaha 2800 watt inverter generator fall on flat on its face.

We've got a 2hp well pump set at 700' with a dual stack of 3648's and they
barely grunt when it turns on.

The best surging inverter around that I've ever seen (don't laugh) is the
DR3624. We hook one up to 8D gel batteries and run a pretty stout MIG
welder out in the field with it.

Also I believe "turbo" does not increase the surge rating only the
continuous.

Best,

Kieth,

I have an off grid VFX3648 out in the field and the customer reports it
occasionally faults starting their 1 HP well pump, so I feel this is
pushing the limit of the inverter. There is NO WAY a single (or even
stacked double) inverter will start a 3 HP well pump unless it is a no
surge pump like Grundfos makes.
