satellite internet off-grid [RE-wrenches]

I use satellite Internet here for three networked computers. Works 
well and is faster (and probably cheaper) than similar cell phone 
Internet service.

The details vary widely with the type of service you get. The 
cheapest is around $80 monthly and the one-time equipment cost is 
around $500. This gets you around 750 kbps service with a monthly 
bandwidth of around 25 gigabytes.

The service I use is Wild Blue. Speed is 1.5 kbps. Monthly bandwidth 
is 48 gigabytes. Equipment cost was $700 and the monthly fee is $189. 
This service has been very reliable. Power consumption for the 
satellite modem is around 28 watts.
