vertical axis wind (and solar) turbine [RE-wrenches]

Hello all,
All this hype and oversell will indeed give small wind a bad name,
which could be difficult or impossible to overcome. It would really
behoove the leading manufacturers of wind machines to work towards
developing and implementing a quantification protocol that would
estimate energy output at a set of standard test conditions (ie. XX
mph at XX tower height, YY tower height) etc. Once a commonly agreed
upon protocol was in place I would hope to see manufacturers of
repute test to the standards and publish the estimated energy output.
I would suspect that this is the sort of project (standards
developing) that could draw support from those who distribute public
research funds.

Regards,

Ezra
