Surrette 2 KS 33PS = 1766 AH @ 20 hrs x 2 strings (assumed a 48v system, I
hope) = 3532 Ah
3532 Ah/5 = 706 amps = a ginormous solar array or wind turbine, or
generator/grid driven battery charger (as in several 3 phase forklift style)
or any combination of the above.
I would agree that if you don't regularly at least get close to that
charging rate the batteries are going to be in big trouble and quickly.
>From personal experience I can attest that Surrettes are particularly
unforgiving of not being charged at c/5 or better.

Minor correction here with large consequences to the question at hand...a
C/5 rate is "capacity at a five-hour rate", or 20% of the battery's amp-hour
rating, rather than 5%.
