HI Andrew,

Nice to know that there are some intelligent Utilities out there that  
don't require a redundant
piece of equipment.

In regards to caveat #1.  The power needs to be on for 5 minutes, so  
no short test will start the inverter
Caveat #2.  Whether its battery or batteryless, all gridtie, have all  
the same safety features, so no Lineperson
will be hurt by any grid inverter.

As a bit of weird disconnect box history, I have on my house the per  
required disconnect that the local Utility locked
ON with one of their own locks.Yes they had to modify the box, but  
they are the utility.  Now in fairness, they don't do
this now, but years ago they did.
