NiMH battery question [RE-wrenches]

I have asked and then looked into these for a meter that I have that eats
batteries, 9 volt is it's flavor.
In the case of 9 volt that is the nominal voltage. With a full charge they
are actually as low as 8.4, you have to look but you can find 9.6 volt 170
mah compared to 8.4 volt 275 mah. Some are lower capacity but I am betting
that the meters will be happier with the higher starting voltage than have
the low battery indicator on real fast. After all they are rechargeable,
keep one fresh and you are covered.
They are not cheap but at the rate I use them it is a bargain. These folks
have chargers and a bunch of different batteries, if you can't find it is
probably not available. Some are fast chargers, some slow, ac and dc
chargers also.
I am using the AA's in scanners and mini mag lights at the moment. You can
get these at Wal-Mart if one is nearby.
I can say that my portable XM boom box really eats the "D" cells. But it
beats feeding it 6 alkaline....

Later.
