code advocate [RE-wrenches]

Gang,
An advocate IS a good idea, IMO. Two challenges there:
1) Finding such a person- this is national level work and probably  
requires a ton of travel
2) Funding the gig.
At first blush, it seems like a SEIA, ASES, whatever sort of thing.  
Dunno if there would be any conflicts, it would need looking at. But,  
I don't see SEIA or anyone else having the dough at this point. The  
intelligent thing would be for all concerned to kick down the dough  
to make it happen. Under the auspices of an existing organization  
would be cheapest to save the overhead. But.... as I see it, those of  
us who actually give a rats ass about these things probably already  
kick down for membership in SEIA, ASES, state SEIA chapters, and god  
knows what else. The poor, lame, or lazy freeloaders who don't,  
probably still won't or can't. Are there enough of us Wrenches/Manus  
who could/would afford to fund a gig like that in addition to all the  
other important works? Probably take $250K or more a year to be  
effective if I had to guess.
