Jim,

I've seen it happen also. In my situations it looked like the fuse holder had overheated - I do remember AES telling me they had a problem with cold solder joints on some of their fuse boards. Do the fuse ends look charred or brown? I recently had this happen on a Sunnyboy, BTW. A clip is made that holds the fuse ends tight in the fuse holder - this might help if poor contact is being made.

Hello Wrenches,

I have an AES GC-1000 that has been in the field operating with no
trouble for about four years. Recently, it started blowing the 10 amp string fuses.
It is connected to 8 Solarex MSX-120 modules. The string current should
never near the 10 amp fuse rating. After replacing the blown fuse, and testing
all PV and grid specs, the unit restarts and operates fine for a few more
weeks. I have not been able to see any correlation to temperature, high
insolation, etc.

Any thoughts or similar experiences to share would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim Grundy
