My experience with smoke detectors running off of Mod Sine Wave have all 
failed. Seems as though the detectoes do not like this type of waveform. The 
last experience of this I used a 125 watt Exceltech inverter to recitfy the 
problem.

  I recently installed a few smoke detectors in a new residence powered with
a  Xantrex DR inverter, all the smokes were running hot an have since burned
up, I actually heard crackling sounds coming from a couple of them just 
before
I pulled them down.  The brand I was using was FireX, has the 9volt battery
backup.  I figure they must be incomatable with the Modsine inverter. 
Anybody
have a similar problem, any sugestions?  A different manufacturer purhaps?
