Hi Holt,
Most laundromats use commercial 80% efficient 100 gallon high recovery
water heaters available from regular plumbing houses.
A better system is to use a 92% efficient DHW boiler with a circulator
and a large tank. Among others, Heat Transfer Products has a Munchkin
Unit certified and with onboard controls just for this kind of
application available in 50MBH to 320MBH. This configuration is easy to
Solarize with modules from Heliodyne, SunEarth, Apricus and others. The
boiler / tank system tends to cost more initially, but will last longer
and is easier and cheaper to repair and 12% cheaper to operate. It also
has much lower standby losses, than the integral tank burner gravity
ventilated systems because there is no flue up the center of the tank. I
think the manufacturer has marketing documentation for this kind of
application. Note however there are specialty contractors just for the
laundry industry and they will bad mouth any equipment configurations
they don't sell.
I will be happy to help you market to his sector. Contact me off list
