I can vouch for that.  Recently replaced a PWM controller with MX60 on a 24V system.  Conductor was at capacity as was controller and customer wanted more PV capacity.  Dropped 2 old 55W panels out of the array and reconfigured the rest into two 48V strings using 80W panels in one and 75W in the other.  Even dropping 110W out the resultant charge is higher than before.  I put it down to MPPT and reduced losses.  Now we can add more strings without replacing the cable.  Controller has paid for itself with the power gain and deferred cable replacement.
