The guy at clean power estimator says south is best total power trumps
peak power.
I have a tool you can use to model different scenarios
http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/go/deant/EnergyCalc.xlt
It doesn't limit at the horizon yet, but you can change slope and
azimuth and it will report values thorugh a time of use model. You can
change paramaters and check the values quickly and easily with the tool.

good luck deant

South would capture more energy in total, especially while the sun is high in the sky, but west might capture more energy on peak time (12N-6PM). Anyone made a study of this? Assume for this case there are no shade issues, and the orientation must be S or W, nothing in between (seems to me SW might actually be optimum).
