Hi Steve,

Would 5 panes of glass qualify as a zealot?

You might be interested in one technique one of the HRV installers was
using in his own home -

He replaced the vent fans scattered over the house with ductwork as the
input to the HRV. 

Benefits
1   No building shell penetration_s_ (leaks)
2   Very very quiet exhaust ( the fan is far removed from the bath(s) and
kitchen.

Disadvantages
1  Added ductwork
2  Increased duct size (He was using six  and eight inch diameter ducts.)

One more idea to keep you healthy, wealthy and warm.
