Solar Converters DC-DC converters test out around 95% efficient, however they often come from the factory with imprecise setting of voltage division. There is a trim pot inside where you can (and always should) touch up for exact voltage balance you need. Once done it seems to hold very well, but if off by 1/10 or 2/10 volt it will, in time, result in differing battery condition between the divided bank.

And what about using a Solar Converters 48-24 unit as a battery equalizer,
rather than a step-down converter for specific loads. Any experience out
there?
