Ah - should have looked more before I posted - I found the diagrams:

The type of KWH meter which would be ideal is the form "12S" which is a
5 jaw type.
Using the "1S" type would not work as the pair of terminals for the
neutral is simply a pass through and is not measured - so it will not be
subtracted as required. What we need is a 120/240 type "2S" meter but
with a 120 vac voltage coil instead of a 240 vac coil.
One of the "Polyphase" meters might also work instead. Or I bet they
could configure one to work correctly for our application.
