Most AC coil contactors will open in less than 1 cycle of AC power loss
- under 16 milliseconds. Some will open even if the voltage mearly sags
to less than 80 VAC or so. This usually results in chatter of the
contactor when the occurs - because the pump load is dropped when the
voltage sags and the contactor opens - which then lets the inverter
voltage rise - which then closes the contactor and powers the pump -
which then cause the voltage to drop again - which then opens the
contactor ...

You'll usually know when this happens from my experience (its a pretty
ugly sound - especially when it was followed by the sounds of 52 MOSFETs
blowing up in the SW inverter...).
