Batteries on Concrete [RE-wrenches]

Rob Cary of C&D Technologies told me that the problems with batteries on the
floor are directly related to temperature (heat transfer.)

Well, I got the question today about 'can I put these batteries on
concrete? (they are Concorde AGM's). Despite having heard for years that
there is something bad about putting batteries on concrete, I really had
no good answer for my customer. Anybody got the real skinny?
