Here's a trick I used to use for Y Pages ads.

The phone co. will let you "name your business front" anything you 
want -- not necessarily your company name. So for instance if your 
company is Smith Electric, you can tell them that you want your 
listing to be anything you want, even if it's ridiculously long. Such 
as:

Smith Solar
Smith Solar-Electric
AAA Smith Solar  (how cheap! -- woops, sorry Smitty)
    or finally:
Solar and Independent Power and Heating Systems by Smith

With the last, you just got a description line for free. When I did 
it there was no official word count limit.

Now, if you list it under several headings, you really save some money.
