Darryl & Wrenches,

I have used Penetrox (Burndy Brand) and Ideal's anti-oxidant compounds
on battery terminals and the threads of their clamping bolts for over 15
years with extremely positive (no pun intended) results. I use the type
formulated for use on AL and AL-CU connections. (Gray, gooey stuff)

I don't know if this is "factory approved" or not, it's just what I've
experienced. I have used it in all of my vehicles as well as quite a
few marine inverter applications.

I don't rightly know if it helps with SS galling, but I do know that it
goes together easier and leaves a mess on my wrenches and sockets! I've
never had a connection loosen up unless I put a wrench on it and there
has never been a case where taking it back apart has given me a problem
at all.... Other than the goo is still the same and I have to wipe my
tools off, of course, even many years later! I have never seen a case
where corrosion on the terminals has occurred after using it, either.
