Array mounting (was 'looks Sharp, man...) [RE-wrenches]

I have not seen the Sharp mounting, but hope they have taken temperature
and roof protection into consideration. For decades, we have known that
black framed and black Tedlar modules experience excessive heat and
voltage drop that is only somewhat offset by wind cooling.

>From a 1993 Japan Solar Energy Society study: "temperatures of the PV
cells in an atmospheric temperature of 40 degrees C. and insolation
strength of 1 kW/m2 were from 72 C to 81 C and the output voltage would
drop down to 155 V to 162 V against the standard 200 V...a breeze...as
gentle as 1 to 2 m/s can reduce the temperature by 10 C or more as
compared to windlessness."

The "old" Solarex Millennia MST modules had what looked like a good
combination interlocking frame/mount. Unfortunately, the narrow space
between the module laminate and roof trapped leaves and dirt and, in
some cases, caused leaks from dammed up rain. Also, instead of the array
shading and cooling the roof, the shingles behind the array got hot
enough to accelerate roofing material aging. PV industry engineers can
learn a lot about building materials, methods and applications from the
construction industry.
