I am constantly amazed at the responses from this list. I have been an
electrician for only 15 years, but recognize different ways of doing
things. When I review the MC connection concept, I realize it is a good
thing. I understand in the electrical world, there isn't a perfect
science. It is my understanding that a standard wiring infrastructure
is designed to last approximately 35 years. Will our systems survive
the rigors of our environments? Solar hot water systems are at the 25
year max here in Hawaii. Unfortunately, Hawaii, under my assumptions, is
a marine environment. I guess my question is, how much time are we
allotting to PV systems life span? This thought will perhaps free us
from the chains that mentally bind us. We all want to design and install
systems that will withstand the tests of time, especially me. No calls
are great calls.
Through this constant dialog, we can improve this industry perhaps
better than the UL. We have an active list with a plethora of design
and installation variables. I personally want to thank all of the folks
on this list who have either responded or personally shared a
spreadsheet or a view on the universe I was unfamiliar.

As humans roaming the earth, we all have something vital to learn.

Brad,

Good idea on the heat shrink. Will give it a whirl.
