To everyone,

There is an underlying theme of freedom, liberty and license in this and
similar wrench discussions. These words refer to the power to act, speak, or
think without externally imposed restraints. Freedom is the most general term.
Abraham Lincoln said, “In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom to the
free.” Liberty stresses the power of free choice. License denotes deliberate
deviation from normally applicable rules or practices and often denotes undue

Some people feel that "we are our brother's keeper." Some people "don't want to
get involved." Most people sometimes help and sometimes avoid getting involved.

How do you feel about crimes of commission and crimes of omission? A few days
ago, a truck driver reported a car that the police were looking for resulting
in the east-coast sniper getting caught. If you had seen the car, would you
have called the cops? Would that trucker report unsafe electrical work? Would
you?

Some of us are members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
and know the IEEE Code of Ethics. If you are not familiar with the Code, please

You do not have to be an IEEE member to practice the Code.
