Hi Dan. I once found myself in a similar situation, though I was not the installer, just the "instigator." 

Our solution was to use pole mounts with engineered pole attachments to the building's outside walls. In this particular case the walls could not handle the vertical load, so the poles went all the way down and into the ground. 

Depending upon wall construction, you might be able to attach pole stubs to the walls themselves, without going all the way to the ground.
