On October 22, 2002, I asked what is your favorite line-tie battery
inverter and your favorite whole-house off-grid inverter. Lately, I've
been selling SMA2500s and SW4048s. Matt Tritt and Steve Willey say they
like the SW-series and Steve listed some off-grid inverters for his
customers on a modest budget.

Abacus - not popular with renewable energy customers.
Advanced Energy GC1000 - out of business.
Advanced Energy MultiMode - out of business.
Aerovironment - no feedback.
American Power Conversion - not popular with renewable energy customers.

Applied Power Sunsine300 - still in business?
Best Energy Systems - not popular with renewable energy customers.
OK4U Microsine - no feedback.
Omnion - out of business.
Outback FX-series - popular among wrenches but few units in the field.
SMA 1800 - no feedback.
SMA 2500 - very popular, some problems but quickly corrected.
Topaz - no feedback.
Vanner - positive comments from the few installers who prefer this
brand.
Xantrex DR-series - popular in 3rd world countries with unreliable
utility power.
Xantrex Heart - not popular with residential renewable energy customers.

Xantrex Statpower - no feedback.
Xantrex Trace SW5548 - ok, but can not start motors like the SW40XX.
Xantrex Trace SW40XX - popular both off-grid and on-grid but some
problems with the GTI.
Xantrex ST- and XR-series - major upgrade pending.
Xeltech - popular with off-grid audiophiles.

1. What inverters did I omit?
2. What inverters do you prefer?
3. What inverters do you refuse to sell?
