Generally the ones that have the most problems are battery/generator/charger
only systems without any renewables. Maybe that is why there wasn't much of
a practical remote off-grid power industry before photovoltaics.  While you
are up there, I am sure you will keep an eye out for solar access, and for
small streams rushing by the house.  I have found a few of those when
checking a site where solar power was being planned.
