We have over 44 kWh and kW demand meters installed at separate sites
all over the U.S. that we download all data at end of each month by
phone.

The meters can hold about 36 days of data until download by computer
modem, which takes a 2 minute phone call.  You can also "daisy chain"
these meters together so one "master" unit can interface with 8
meters.
