There seems to be variation in the way the Onan remote start works. Some
connect a grounded wire to the start and stop wires to initiate the
function, and others use a hot wire.

My approach is to first test to find B+ and neg, and then to hand connect
wires to see what does what, and then test the wires coming out of the
remote rocker switch with a meter to see which does what. It is a good
idea to put a small in line fuse between the wiring coming out of the
generator, when testing it. After all wires are identified and labeled,
then I just connect remote start wires and inverter control wires in a
junction box.

An Emerald 6.3 we hooked up last Fall had no hot wire in the the pigtail
for the remote. It was a ground - start and stop system. This would not
have been a problem, but we were trying to connect to a "three wire to two
wire" start control. The control box required a B+ connection to operate
the relays. A separate B+ had to be run to the box. Nothing in the
instructions indicated the need to do this. The Onan tech said that the
control wiring on the new Emeralds was different than previous models, and
he had never run across this before, but that is what we would indeed have
to do to make it work.
