Hey all,

I trenched in a 900 foot run with 4/0, 4/0, 2/0 AL URD in a job I also
consulted with Bob-O on. I think I made some money on the URD and the
client paid something like $1,500 for the wire. I contacted a couple
trenchers and hooked the winning bid direct to the client, didn't want
the commission on the trenching. I think he paid the guy with the
trencher a little better than $1,300, but we went through some real
tough trenching on this run and it included 17' of horiziontal boring to
cross a blacktop driveway, as well as a 40 foot trench from the Tracker
to "utility" room. I looked with some interest upon a Wrenches
discussion a while back about the ability of AL URD to hold up over the
long haul when underground. Did I hear that it had greater potential to
degrade when DC? My application was also ac, but from the Inverter to
the home.
