Fw: New Topic MPPT and wind power [RE-wrenches]

To spare everyone's time, I don't want to get into a long discussion of
something on the edge of off-topic and will attempt to limit further comment
on this...

But, I think the term MPPT in the context of wind generators loosely
describes a power converter which would optimally load the generator.
Operation of this power converter depends heavily on the characteristics of
the generator. A Solar Boost(tm) controller may provide some benefit even
with the present algorithm for some generators. As for stored energy in the
windings (inductor) of the generator, many factors affect the transient
voltage spike that will occur when current is rapidly interrupted. The Solar
Boost PV input has both a fair amount of input capacitance and transient
voltage protection. It may not be damaged by small generators, but this is
totally dependant on the energy pulse delivered. Whether any power converter
in this application has potential merit further depends on the internal
controls of the generator.
