Ni-Cd restoration [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches,
We use the 18V DeWalt cordless tools on our service truck, and we're
basically satisfied with their performance. One Ni-Cd battery has failed
after 3-4 years. Is there a nothing-to-lose "ZAP" procedure we can try,
rather than just tossing the battery into the hazardous-materials recycling
bin? Maybe it just needs its dendrites fried to perform again. What AC or DC
voltage and current might restore performance? Thanks
