[RE-wrenches] Cable Ties

I'm currently testing GripLockTies. https://griplockties.com/ I really really like them so far. The rubber lining makes it really soft on sensitive wires such as coax, but more importantly, the rubber lining makes it grip really well, so it never slides, and wires don't slide in them. They are thick and really strong... typical breaking point of over 300 lbs, rated for 70 lbs. I haven't found them to get brittle yet... They are UV-rated, but as you say, that doesn't always mean all that much. I've only been testing for a couple of years though. They also are releasable and reusable, which normally doesn't matter, but once in a while, that's really nice. They are mostly manufactured for high-vibration applications like race airplanes where a zip tie failure can result in an engine failure, which can be terrifying if not fatal mid-flight. They were invented by a well-known race airplane and bush-plane builder named Mike Patey.

Our go to "cable ties" have been stainless steel hose clamps with about a 3" length of 600v 3/4" heat shrink pulled over the end before tightening around the rails to secure trunk lines, we also stay away from zip ties.
Bulk ordering the 4' lengths of heat shrink and SS hose clamps.

I'm with William on this one. We use stainless PV cable clips and the Quickmount PV stainless PV clips that fit QRail or IronRidge. I forbid plastic cable ties on the roof except for the temporary positioning of wires.

This panel will lay down without any cable sag or need to reach under to apply cable ties.  We call this the hinge technique—all cables are lead to a hinge point with just the right amount of slack to allow pinch and sag free installation.

Who makes the best cable ties, and which part number for under PV wire management? I keep going back to past projects where I used quality high-heat resistant UV rated Panduit and Burndy ties that became brittle.
