I was just thinking about this system today.
I have a different take, but it depends on if the well can produce 30 gpm +/-.
The client wants 14,400 gpd. If the system is in SoCal then those months with correct PV orientation you should be able to get 8 hrs per day. Split array, east/west.
Thats 30 gpm, and about 12,000 gallons of storage. That storage is about $6000 which is going to be lots cheaper than batteries. ( would be using 4 x 3000 gallon tanks, which are typically in stock, quick to install and don’t add to property tax.)
So pump during the day and use water storage vs battery storage.
The amount of PV is going to be pretty close regardless of which system battery or storage.
As to a pump, probably looking at the franklin solar version or similar AC with solar/vfd drive.
If you can’t do 30 gpm, then the pump windy shows below, with a high voltage DC battery might work. Not sure what you’d do for a controller and if that pump will work with batteries?
