[RE-wrenches] Two Dilemmas

Hi Rick

First off dump the 5548’s, they are old and inefficient, especially for selling to the grid. I just swapped 2  20 yr old 4024s for 2 magnums. It was a Original power panel so the 4024 PAE’s fit well and was a 240v generator and system. 

As to the batteries, I prefer 2v cells, for exactly the reasons you state. 
To move them a few options. if they are on concrete you can use the old roller method, pry it up and slide steel or even pvc pipes under it and roll it around. Or build a steel dolly with caster wheels,  pick up the battery with 1 or 2 engine hoists, then lower into dolly and wheel it around. Of course youve got to somehow get into the truck, 
But my preferred is to use heavy machinery, backhoe or mini excavator. Saves time, money, backs and fingers.
