Hi John.

Stacked DR's can run a well pump, and you don't need a step-up 
transformer. The motor will be less efficient with a non-sine wave. 
Expect it to take about 20% more watt-hours per gallon than it would 
with a sine wave. Expect brief voltage dip during startup that will 
dim or blink lights in the house.

I wouldn't hesitate to propose  DR2424 instead of a 1524, for the 
slight extra cost.

I would however hesitate on grounds of "mod" sine wave. People who 
have a materially simple lifestyle do very well with DR's (like 
people who have been living for years with little or no electricity). 
People with more electronics had better stick to sine wave. The 
trouble is, it's hard to predict who will start out in the first 
category and quickly transform into the second.
