Kim,

Electric guitar is like a microphone. It doesn't use power. it plugs 
into an amplifier that uses power. Electric piano is the same if it 
is the old mechanical type. If it is a more modern synthesizer, then 
it uses power to do its work.

In many experiences of powering sound stage events with mod-sine 
inverters, we never had anything worse happen than a bit of buzz in 
the background -- synthesizers, effects machines, all OK. Nothing 
ever malfunctioned.
