Islanding [RE-wrenches]

The issue of islanding is taken up with the following standard.

Zero point crossing.

When the inverter makes the wave form, it shuts down for a brief moment at the
zero point crossing:  at this time it looks to see the voltage and hertz from the
grid, it then matches it.  If there is no voltage or Hz, then it shuts down in
like 2-4 cycles if I remember correctly.

As to the possibility of islanding, it has never been proven with all the tests
that have been done.  Only a motor under perfect loading keeping the cycles and
voltage just right could do it, but once the load changed even a little bit, it
would crash.

The Micro Sine from NFK ( marketed under the Trace name here in the USA) uses the
same zero point crossing safety feature.
