I also like to see a fused disconnect (or breakers) on either side of
the charge controller. I agree that the main concern is current from
the battery, not from the PV where-in all conductors are sized to carry
at least PV short circuit current. In some systems with a budget, I
have used a single breaker (in the DC250) between the charge controller
and the battery, with the PV (low current) side protected by the fuses
in the collection center. On the other hand, I have installed systems
where-in I considered the fuses in the collection center to be
"optional" in systems with appropriate over-current and current
inturrupting devices on both sides of the charge controller.
