I'm pretty much with Jay on this issue. In many ways we are trying to beat a 
dead horse. Many of the schemes are ingenious and clever, but really I would 
hesitate to set these up for customers. Neither they nor I want the potential 
headaches.

It is a fact that many customers want grid tied with backup and I don't 
critisize them for wanting both, but it comes with a cost. For me when the 
grid is present use it to float the batteries ( about 8 cents per day). I 
know this is not the purest approach but it is practicle and works reliably.
